“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.”
—Matthew 7:24 (NRSV)
How Long Will Your House Stand?

Dear fellow Christian,

Is Your House Built Upon A Rock?

I ask because we’re taught in 1st Timothy, chapter 5, verse 8:

“…whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith…”
—1 Timothy 5:8 (NRSV)

To provide for your family, you must build your house on a rock.

A rock provides stability.

A rock is a solid foundation that will remain after you’re gone.

That rock is your legacy.

It’s a scary truth that the average American family has less than $4,000 in savings.

In many households, that’s less than a single month’s budget.

Indeed, providing for your family… today and into the future… is a part of God’s calling.

And as uncomfortable as it may be to think about…

Neither you nor I know when the good Lord will beckon us home.

“But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Beware, keep alert;[f] for you do not know when the time will come.”
—Mark 13:32-33 (NRSV)

I have no doubt that your heart is preparing to meet Jesus our Lord…

…living through your faith…

…providing care to the needy…

…and above all, seeking to love and understand those around you.

It’s through understanding one another that you build your nation, your community, and your own family.

And Right Now, These Are All In Danger

Let’s face it, the Corona Virus has changed the world.

The economy is struggling…

Small businesses are being crushed…

And people are desperate to find employment.

Meanwhile, social distancing has reduced human connections…

Mothers are unable to hug their sons…

And families are being hit with the loss of loved ones whom they can’t even visit.

And to top it off…

Politics have invaded every part of life.

Yes, the last years have been a rough ride.

As a result, we’re finding ourselves more divided than any time in recent memory.

As Jesus reminds us,

“And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.”
—Mark 3:25 (NRSV)

But the grim news of the world is only half the story…

There’s a brighter way to look at this time.

“My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy”
—James 1:2 (NRSV)

After all, trials like you see today provide perspective…

…slowing everything down…

…allowing you to see what’s important in your life…

…and bringing a renewed focus on the importance of your family and community.

And so I ask again,

Will Your House Stand After You’re Gone?

Consider this fact:

For your house to continue to stand for years to come…

…even after your passing…

…it must be built on that solid foundation of faith, family, and financials.

But your family’s home… your spouse’s car… your funeral and burial…

…Simply put, the financial burden of losing a loved one is higher than you might imagine.

And to put that in stark contrast,

70% of Americans are underinsured at the time of their death.

If something were to happen to you… your friends might send flowers, but who would send the checks?

After all, everyone is struggling.

That’s why it’s important to start building your financial foundation today.
